Biography:
Rayna Dexter received her B.A. (2005) in Theatre from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, and her M.F.A. (2009) from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Dexter brings teaching experience in both costume technology and theatrical make-up, having instructed on both topics at Tulane University and Kent State. She has served as costume designer, costume shop supervisor and head of wardrobe at both academic and professional levels.
A member of the Department of Performance Studies faculty at Texas A&M University since 2009, Rayna has taught Costume Design, Costume Technology, Stage Makeup and History of Western Dress. She has designed the costumes for My Children! My Africa! in Spring 2010, Les Liasons Dangereuses in Fall 2010, and The Conduct of Life in Fall 2011. Her research focuses on dress as a form of nonverbal communication and its relationship to humans as aesthetic and social beings.
