Biography:
Dana Sayre graduated with honors from Fairmont State University with bachelor’s degrees in both Theatre and English. Currently, she is a second-year Master of Arts student in performance studies at Texas A&M University. Her current research project is an ethnographic study focusing on queer intimacy-building practices and utopian performance at Texas A&M. Working with the GLBT Aggies, Cepheid Variable, and the workshop/performance by Tim Miller in fall 2010, Dana hopes to illuminate the ways minority students on campus challenge, reject, or hope to expand traditional definitions of “Aggie” identity. Dana will create a devised theatrical performance alongside her thesis, and hopes to continue devising theatre in the future.
Dana’s research interests include feminist/queer performance theory and practice, participatory fan culture, and autobiographical performance. After graduating from Texas A&M, Dana plans to teach or work in the public sector before continuing her education.
